Description
The specimen sits on two parallel metal supports, rounded at the edges and fixed 100mm apart on an overhanging frame. Load is applied midway between the supports through a vertical rod, guided by a metallic sleeve so it moves without rotating.
The immersion bath is double-walled — stainless steel inner wall, mild steel outer wall, with glass wool insulation between them. An immersion heater raises the bath temperature under electronic voltage-regulator control, with a digital controller capping the maximum bath temperature. Specimen deflection is read directly off a dial gauge.
- All parts share the same coefficient of linear expansion, so the rig itself doesn't skew the reading.
- Digital temperature controller restricts maximum bath temperature.
- Dead weight is adjustable to set the applied force precisely.
